Hello Friends and Families!

Keiki’s Corner is continuing to grow in many exciting ways!

This past year, we have had the opportunity to share the gift of sign to families from San Francisco, Palo Alto, Los Altos, Cupertino, Campbell and Sunnyvale. It’s been an enriching experience to serve you in each of these areas and we look forward to developing deeper connections with you all.

In May 2006, Keiki’s Corner was invited to present at a workshop in Palo Alto, where preschool educators came together to learn the benefits of using sign in their classrooms. It was a fun time sharing ideas with new friends who also have a passion in working with children.

A trip to the booming city of Las Vegas was taken in September for a conference showcasing ~ Mr. Joseph Garcia, a pioneer in the field of educating others about the gift of sign. It was a wonderful chance to be educated, re-inspired, and to collaborate with fellow Sign2Me Presenters. Here we shared concepts and ideas to build further the works we hope to offer you through our business.

We’d like to share with you one more highlight we enjoyed this past year! Keiki’s Corner had the exciting experience of working with Ms. Shia Levitt, a free lance audio reporter. An aired presentation was created from live audio takes taken from one of our classes held in Campbell as well as interviews from Jenn, Eva and parents attending that class. It was aired on NPR (National Public Radio Station), featuring the strengths and the point of view of how signing at a young age can enhance the development of young minds. It was a privilege to be a part of such an informative and educational project.

Please feel free to visit the other pages of our website to stay updated to all that is going on at Keiki’s Corner. As always, we give thanks to all your continuing support in helping Keiki’s Corner be all it can be!

In closing we’d like to celebrate with you these words which two of our families so affectionately shared:

“Jenn & Eva-

I wanted to write you both a note to let you know how thrilled we have been with your sign language class. We have had a wonderful experience, and we'd be more than happy to speak with prospective students/parents if they'd like to hear about our successful experience. After coming to your sign language class once a week, he (Hayden) started to rapidly pick up some of the most important signs that he needed to communicate with us. For example, instead of frustrated screams in the car when he saw a mail truck, a fire truck, a police car, or a train, he simply yelled "Mama" or "Dada" and then enthusiastically made the sign.

We estimate that our son learned and frequently used about 50 signs, which gave him the essentials to be able to communicate with us effectively on the topics of food, drink, toys/play, and basic needs (e.g., help) while his speech caught up with the thoughts he wanted to communicate. Furthermore, I believe that the confidence he built through communicating with us via sign language has helped his confidence level as he strives more and more to communicate with us through words (he is now using well over 100 words, and that number is increasing rapidly!!).

Sincerely,
John”

“Jenn:

Theo and I were so excited about what we learned on Friday and we were very impressed with you and Eva. We are making every effort to use what few signs we have learned with Andrew. It’s so amazing to see that he is starting to make a connection with some of the signs such as the ones we use for milk and to ask if he wants to eat. We have involved my parents and have shown them some of the signs since Andrew spends most of the day with them while Theo and I are at work. … Again thank you so much. Your professionalism and dedication to what you do is much appreciated.”

~Susana”

Blessings,
jenn and eva
